Data for Policy CIC, in collaboration with Cambridge University Press, is excited to invite expressions of interest (EOI) from individuals and organisations to host a regional edition of the prestigious Data for Policy conference in 2025. Building on the success of previous regional editions held in Hong Kong, Seattle, and Brussels in 2022, and with the forthcoming global edition in London in 2024, we are eager to expand our vibrant expert community and foster collaborative efforts that reflect the diverse contexts within the data for policy space.
Expand your network, shape the regional agenda, and gain international recognition by hosting a Data for Policy Conference in your region!
Our regional conferences offer a unique platform to:
- Leverage our established network and platform to consolidate regional efforts and mobilise resources for coordinated stakeholder action.
- Seamlessly connect regional discussions with broader global data for policy dialogues.
- Inaugurate regional special collections in the prestigious Data & Policy journal published by Cambridge University Press.
In 2025, we aim to deepen our reach within Asia-Pacific, Americas, Africa and Europe while also extending our network to other regions.
We anticipate that regional conference hosts will spearhead and oversee a one or two-day event curating content around a theme of regional relevance within the broader data for policy discourse. They will also collaborate with other regional editions and central coordination teams to provide regional perspectives and insights toward selected shared questions, fostering comparative opportunities within the Data for Policy research and knowledge ecosystem.
If you would like to discuss this opportunity further, please contact team@dataforpolicy.org.
EOIs should reach Data for Policy CIC by August 1st, 2024. The Data for Policy Team will then gauge feasibility through a series of follow-up discussions with proposers.
Prospective hosts are expected to include the following information in their EOIs:
- The individuals and organisations involved, and their proposed roles: programme chair(s), regional committee, sponsor/partner organisations, management/administration teams, and any broader support base for the proposed regional conference edition.
- Any previous or current involvement of the proposers with the Data for Policy community, and any experience of organising meetings at similar scale.
- Proposed highlight theme for the regional conference and its context.
- Proposed regional/local venue for the conference with any supporting reasons.
- Proposed date(s) with any supporting reasons. Please consider major local, national and international holidays, semester scales, or other aspects that might affect the timing of the conference.
Please send EOIs to team@dataforpolicy.org latest by August 1st, 2024 (23:59 BST).
We look forward to hearing from you!
