As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the Data for Policy community, we are delighted to announce the appointment of 16 new Area Editors. These individuals bring a wealth of expertise and diverse perspectives that will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of how data influences policymaking and governance. We are confident that their contributions will enrich our discussions and deepen insights within our pivotal focus areas, which are essential for exploring the impact of data in policymaking and governance.
The six focus areas and their new editors are as follows:
- Digital & Data-Driven Transformations in Governance (Area 1): This area examines the evolving role of digital innovations and data-driven approaches in governance. New Area Editors: Prof. Austin L. Zwick, Dr. Bonnie Buyuklieva.
- Technologies & Analytics (Area 2): Focusing on the development and application of new technologies and analytics, this area enhances data-driven insights and decision-making processes. New Area Editors: Dr. Christian Mongeau, Dr. Michael Zimba, Dr. Roman Marchant, Dr. Stéphane Koumétio Tékouabou.
- Policy & Literacy for Data (Area 3): This area advances data literacy and fosters a deeper understanding of data’s role in shaping effective policies. New Area Editors: Dr. Emanuela Podda, Yuan Stevens.
- Ethics, Equity, and Trustworthiness (Area 4): Addressing the ethical, equitable, and trustworthy use of data is essential for maintaining public trust and social responsibility. New Area Editors: Dr. Suneel Jethani, Dr. Zihao Li.
- Algorithmic Governance (Area 5): This area explores how algorithmic systems influence governance processes, examining both potential benefits and risks. New Area Editors: Prof. Jacqueline C.K Lam, Dr. Ricardo Vecellio Segate, Dr. M. Lorena Florez Rojas.
- Global Challenges and Dynamic Threats (Area 6): Engaging with pressing global issues where data and AI play pivotal roles, this area addresses public health, environmental resilience, and global security. New Area Editors: Prof. Marta Poblet, Dr. Love Opeyemi David, Dr. Paddy Brock.
In addition to the new Area Editors, we are excited to announce the formation of a Translational Committee for the Data & Policy Journal & Data for Policy Conferences, dedicated to bridging the gap between research insights and practical policy applications. The inaugural members of this committee include: Shahzad Asghar, Dr. Roberto Musmeci, Dr. Saeid Molladavoudi, Dr. Federico Bartolomucci and Beverley Hatcher-Mbu.
The contributions of these new area editors and translational committee members will be invaluable in advancing our mission to promote responsible, impactful, and inclusive data policies.
