Zeynep Engin

Founding Director and Chair, Data for Policy CIC

Dr Zeynep Engin is the founder of multiple global initiatives, including Data for Policy CIC (Founding Director and Chair), the Data & Policy journal (Founding Editor-in-Chief, Cambridge University Press), and The Digital Statecraft Academy. With over 20 years in AI – from theoretical machine learning to governance innovation – she leads pioneering work in Human–AI Governance, Algorithmic Government and GovTech.

Recognised as one of the top academic influencers in the UK AI landscape, she acts as an adviser to a range of national and international organisations and is widely regarded as a leading voice on responsible and strategic uses of AI in governance. Her initiatives, supported by UKRI, The Alan Turing Institute and the European Commission, aim to foster citizen-focused digital governance worldwide.

Dr Engin holds a PhD from Imperial College London and has held fellowships and research posts at the University of Cambridge, UCL and Tokyo Tech.
