Aug 5, 2025

Momentum is building for the Data for Policy 2025 – Asia Pacific Edition, set to take place on 23–24 October 2025 at Shanghai Research Institute for Intelligent Autonomous Systems, Tongji University, Shanghai. In a key planning session held last week at the Alan Turing Institute, conference leaders came together to shape the conference’s vision and agenda.

The meeting brought together Professor Bin He (Tongji University), Dr Zeynep Engin (Data for Policy CIC) and UCL), Professor Jon Crowcroft (Data for Policy CIC, University of Cambridge, and The Alan Turing Institute), Dr Emily Gardner (Data for Policy CIC) and the members of the local conference committee at Tongji University to align goals and priorities for the DfP’25 Asia-Pacific edition. Their collaboration signals the growing importance of international dialogue around the societal impacts of artificial intelligence.

Hosted by the Shanghai Research Institute for Intelligent Autonomous Systems, this regional edition of Data for Policy conference will focus on the theme: “Advancing AI: Innovations, Governance, and Ethical Frontiers.”

The event promises to convene a diverse community of researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society to examine the fast-evolving landscape of AI technologies and the pressing need for robust governance frameworks.

Stay tuned for the full programme announcement in the upcoming month. This will be a milestone event for shaping the future of responsible AI in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
