Data for Policy Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Leiden University for 2025 European Conference

Nov 5, 2024

Data for Policy is excited to announce the successful signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Leiden University, Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, on October 21, 2024, to collaborate on the organization of the Data for Policy 2025 European Conference. This significant partnership marks the first initiative of a long-term collaboration aimed at enhancing research and dialogue in the field of data and policy.

The conference is scheduled to take place on June 12-13, 2025, at Leiden University in The Hague, under the theme “Twin Transitions in Data and Policy for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future.” This theme reflects the urgent need to address the interplay between digital and green transformations in light of current global challenges. The discussions will explore whether these transitions are mutually compatible or if one may undermine the other, aiming to reshape industrial ecosystems while considering social inequalities.

The MOU was signed by Zeynep Engin, Founding Director of Data for Policy CIC, alongside Bram Klievink, Professor of Public Administration, Leiden University and Sarah Giest, Professor of Public Policy, Leiden University, both of whom also serve as area editors in the Data for Policy community.

As part of this MOU, Data for Policy will lead and coordinate joint activities, providing central administration and promoting collaboration through various channels. Leiden University will host the event and contribute to its promotion as an official partner. Both organizations are committed to leveraging the outcomes of the conference to produce influential publications and resources that support effective data-driven policymaking.

We look forward to this exciting collaboration and its potential to shape the future of data and policy.
