Submissions to the Data for Policy 2025 Conferences are invited in the following categories:

Submission Categories

  • Special Track Submissions:  Track proposals submitted via EasyChair.
  • Individual Abstract Submissions: Policy and practitioner submissions via EasyChair.
  • Individual Full Paper Submissions: Research contributions submitted for integrated review via ScholarOne system managed by Cambridge University Press
  • Panel Session Proposals: Submitted via EasyChair, consisting of 3-5 abstracts and/or full papers.

Submission Process & Actions

All submissions will go through a single peer-review round for conference acceptance.

Full paper submissions benefit from an integrated review, allowing them to be reviewed concurrently for both conference presentation and journal publication. Upon conference acceptance, these papers will proceed to a second review stage for potential Data & Policy journal publication.

Information for Reviewers

Thank you for agreeing to review for Data for Policy 2025 Conference. Submissions are invited for consideration at Data for Policy 2025 in the following categories:

Process for extended abstracts and panel proposals: These will receive one review via EasyChair, arranged by the local organising committee.

Process for full papers, including those that are part of a panel proposal: These will receive one review via ScholarOne system, arranged by the relevant Area Committees (standard tracks) or Special Track Chairs (special tracks) for conference acceptance. After the conference, a second review will follow for potential journal publication.

Assessment Criterias

All submissions are assessed for their suitability for inclusion in the conference programme, with reviewers asked to comment on the following:

For extended abstracts and panel proposals:

  • Potential contribution to the debates in the field
  • Potential for stimulating debate at the Conference
  • Freshness of the content, novelty and originality
  • Formulation of the research/policy question
  • Data and methodology
  • Quality of writing and presentation

For full papers:

Criteria as detailed above for abstracts and panel proposals AND

  • the paper’s significance, noting what is original / interesting
  • the overall quality
  • the technical correctness and scientific soundness
  • the clarity and length
  • the suitability for the journal

Review Deadlines

Deadline for reviews for the Data for Policy 2025 – Europe Edition : 21 March, 2025

Decision Criterias by Submission Type

Individual abstracts on EasyChair: these will be scored from 1 (high) to 5 (low), as follows:

  1. Strong accept for conference;
  2. Accept for conference;
  3. Borderline accept;
  4. Weak reject for conference;
  5. Reject for conference

Full papers on ScholarOne will receive decisions as follows:

  • Accept for journal and conference (Journal publications may require major or minor revisions. Revised papers should be submitted after the conference, in accordance with the appropriate deadline.)
  • Reject for journal and conference
  • Desk reject (papers that are out of scope or otherwise unsuitable for review)

Please note that the underlying principle of our integrated review process is that acceptance to the conference also includes an invitation to journal publication. However, journal publication is contingent upon a second review following the conference. If a paper receives a reject decision after the first review, this applies to both the conference and the journal.

Panel proposal decision mechanism will depend on the composition of the panel (combination of abstracts and full papers)and will be decided on a case by case basis with the appropriate committee members.

For full paper submissions, following acceptance to the conference, peer-review process will proceed for publication in Data & Policy.
Once all submissions have been scored, the Area Committees will rank submissions for recommendation to the conference chairs.

For all submissions, the final decision on inclusion in the conference rests with the conference chairs, who have an overview of the Conference programme as a whole. This is to ensure a varied and balanced programme for the benefit of all conference attendees.
